Antiqued Sterling Earrings

Martha, a good friend of mine, recently had a birthday. She’s in MN right now, so very far away, but I saw her blog about a pair of earrings she really wanted (and was about to pay at least $40 for) and well, if I can just make them for her, I can’t pass up that opportunity, now can I?

Her earrings looked like this:

Mine look like this:

Nailed it!

I wanted to make a special mention of the antiquing process I used with them, as they looked like this before I did it:

As I blogged about way back at the beginning, you can antique metal with a hard boiled egg! So bright and shiny silver goes in the bag with the egg in another bag (with holes poked in it to let the important gasses through without any of the icky egg stuff)

And comes out looking brilliant!
